Day 219/365

Ran from the caravan park down through the town to the harbour past the statue of William of Orange whom landed here on the 5th of November 1688 and later became William III King of Great Britian and Ireland making the famous declaration " The liberties of England and the Protestant religion I will maintain". Ran on past The Golden Hind a replica of Sir Francis Drakes ship in which he circumnavigated the globe between 1577 and 1580.
Heading on along the coastal path towards Battery Gardens where stands the remains of 378 Battery Artillery Southern Command built in 1940 to defend Torbay from the expected German invasion. It's military position has been here since Napoleonic times on a cliff top guarding Brixham harbour and overlooking the whole of Torbay was sensibly  chosen for war time and now, in peacetime, the gardens offer splendid views. I turned around and ran back to the caravan park managing  4.18 miles in 38.30 minutes, very warm and sunny this morning.
