Having the whole family there to cheer me on was brilliant, I started near the back jostling my way across the runners to get to the right side so as I could wave to the kids as I ran past at the beginning. This turned out to be a bit of a mistake as with a field of 631 runners the first few miles had a huge amount of bottlenecks, in places slowing to a virtual stop. Before leaving Borough park we were walking which meant the front runners were getting further ahead and energy was being used to push your way through. Tried to keep a steady pace and run how my body felt as with GPS tracker/ phone broken had no way of telling my pace, just kept picking off the runners in front of me as the race progressed and the field spread out.
I was joined by fellow Somer AC team mates Simon King and Keith Craddock, I had passed Simon within the first couple of miles but kept pushing and hunting down Keith alas he finished 44 seconds before me. My official finish time being 54:30 with a place of 217/631. Big thank you to the organisers who gave me a shout out after the race for running my 215th run of the challenge, and mentioning the charities I am supporting. Good to meet a Brixham Harrier member who has invited me to run with them on Tuesday and Thursday whilst in Brixham this week. Brixham Harriers strip is the same as Somer AC' s running strip but they have an orange band where ours is yellow.
Please bear with me whilst I get a new phone, mine is knackered from the rain on Friday. My posts may be a bit late for a day or two as I'm using everyone else's phones etc and I struggling to get photos onto the blog.
