This evening it was Midsomer Norton Carnival, many of the roads around the trading estate had been closed to accomadate the massive floats. Myself and Nick Parrott running at 10pm after an afternoon shift expected the carnival to be finished maybe a few people clearing up how wrong could we be. The roads were still closed and cars parked on the verges all the way up to the White Post a couple of floats were heading that way with lights off, we ran back down and through Charlton Park at the end the road was closed again with motorists turning their cars around and heading back frantically the way they had come. Down Lynton Rd and back out onto Fosseway floats now we passed blaring out music with lights all over the heat as you ran beside them was immense. Marshals and police behind barriers at every road junction but hardly any spectators were stood in the cold drizzle. We ran through the housing estates crossing the main road at different points. Still more floats slowly travelled up through Westfield as we headed back up overtaking the floats and running back in around the trading estate. 5.86 miles in just over 49 minutes dodging blocked roads, carnival floats, police, marshals and one or two spectators.
