A dark, cold and gloomy day, still light when I set out but took my head torch with me as light was fading. Headed up the hill to post entries for the last two races of the year next week The reindeer run at Stourhead and on the 28th a 4 mile race I've not done before in Glastonbury. Ran on up the hill past the school bus which my daughters were on and then went off road along the footpaths out across Kilmersdon Common towards Ham. Some very muddy spots along the way in the gateways nearly losing my trainers. Ran around Edford Woods and then through Harridge Woods light was fading now. As I re entered the field a pack of 5 or 6 spaniels came barking and growling towards me, I stood motionless as their master shouted obscenities at them to come back. My thoughts went back to the Summer when I was bit on the bum by a dog which was quite painful and ended up with a tetanus and course of antibiotics. As one dog went another two seemed to come back barking and circling around me. Eventually they followed their owner. I ran on for about a mile only to find a lady clutching tight hold of her dog, I thought brilliant a dog kept under control. As I got nearer the lady said " He's alright" as I ran past with lights flashing she exclaimed " He just don't like hi viz". I scurried on I didn't want him chasing me just because I got hi viz on. 5.85 muddy miles.
